Sunday noon, Aug. 8, 1948, Elder Leonard W. Light passed from this life to await the call of Jesus. Born January 21, 1891 at Southampton, England, he joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church at that place at the age of 17. Two years later he attended LaCombe Academy in Alberta, Canada. Later he attended Hutchinson Theological Seminary at Hutchinson, Minn., receiving his B. A. in 1923. He entered the North Wisconsin Conference as Educational Sabbath
School, and Missionary Volunteer Secretary immediately upon graduation, serving until called to the North Michigan Conference as Educational secretary in 1926. When he arrived at the North Michigan Conference camp meeting he found that they had voted to merge with West Michigan, and he was asked to take up pastoral work. From that time until he withdrew from the active ministry in April of 1947, Elder Light held the pastorate of many Seventh-day Adventist churches in Michigan. As a district pastor he lived in Cadillac, Alpena, Onaway, Port Huron, and Ferndale. On November 10, 1926, he and Florence Harris were married in Gratiot County, Mich. In 1930 he was ordained to the gospel ministry by Elder A. G. Daniels, at the camp meeting at Hastings, Mich. At the time of his retirement he was the worker longest in the continuous service of the Michigan Conference.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Florence of Ferndale, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Audrea Rabidue of Port Huron, Mich.; a sister, Miss Violet Light of Southampton, England; a brother, Ernest, of British Columbia, Canada; and a brother, Sidney, of Southampton, England; as well as a host of friends and those for whom he has ministered throughout Michigan. Words of comfort were spoken by Elder E. R. Potter at the services in the Ferndale church and at the graveside. Elders T. S. Hill and the writer assisted. Interment was at the North Star Cemetery, Gratiot Co., Mich.
